Meet Morgan Newton,

Morgan Newton is a visual artist and Howard University Alumna based in Houston, Texas. Newton’s body work explores the phenomenon (or nuances) of black womanhood, identity, and “being”. Through this practice she deepens her relationship with her southern familial roots, black womanhood, spirituality, and healing in all forms. Her work centers the idea of “being” as a black woman and explores what that means. Her mission is to inspire others with her transparency so they can see themselves in her work. A question that centers her practice is  What does it mean to “be”? In this shade? In this body? The continuation of this exploration would be crucial in my journey to formulate a deeper meaning of my past, present and future self. Overall this experience would uplift me and other Black women on this journey.
