Suni Mullen is a post-modern conceptual artist. Her practice examines how Black identity is constructed, disciplined, and activated through language, social existence, and well as systems of power. Mullen’s work meditates at the intersections of occupying Blackness, womaness, and vengeance. Her interdisciplinary methods often narrate personal stories, both lived and observed.

Mullen earned her B.F.A in Painting from Otis College of Art & Design and an M.A in Contemporary Art Practices from the Royal College of Art, London, where she developed an evolving language on Black Agency through painting, video, discourse, writing, performance, and sculpture. She has exhibited across California, throughout Texas, and in New Mexico alongside Kara Walker and Shinique Smith; internationally in London and Germany — debuting short films at the Tate Modern as well as Tick Tack.

This year, she exhibited a new series, "A New Frontier: Kiss My Black Ass" at the Bomb Factory in London with "The Furies"--  a female collective. Recently her work was showcased for Heavenly Beings at the African American Cultural and Heritage Facility in Austin, TX which closed on August 29, 2026.
